Sustainable water management solution for agribusiness development in Dakhla

Until recently, local farmers have been using traditional methods of irrigation, such as flooding their lands to water their fields, thus consuming unnecessarily large amount of water for production purposes. The overall aim of this project is to provide a viable model for modern irrigation systems to local farmers in several villages located around the Dahkla Oasis. 50 local youth/farmers, half of which will be women, will recieve theoretical and practical training on good irrigation practices and different local cost-efficient techniques (drip and sprinckler irrigation). In total the project will turn the 30 feddan for training purpose into productive land in which products planted under the training program will generate income from sale and generate self sustainability for new training programs in water management.
