Australian Ambassador visits NHASD projects in the New Valley
20/21 – 01 – 2013
The Australian Ambassador’s visit at New Horizon projects in Balat, Dakhla Oasis, has been welcomed with great enthusiasm by the local community. Farmers, youth and women appeared to be very proud of their work, as they were showing the results of their efforts to the Australian representative. Besides the visit at New Horizon biggest project consisting of 120 feddan cultivated with organic products, and of a guesthouse/training center for the activities, the Ambassador has also visited some of the greenhouses project (financed by the Embassy), as well as more projects in the area supported and coordinated by other Ngos. The core moment of the visit was the meeting with the representatives of the CDAs working in the field under New Horizon’s umbrella, the youth and women involved in the projects financed by the Australian Embassy, and the Governorate representatives. The meeting constituted a crucial event for the community members, since it gave them the rare possibility to show their work and future intents, ask questions, and demand answers from the Governorate. Lastly, the touristic tour of the local archaeological sites left the Ambassador amazed by the unique beauty of the area.
